What are the Best Hedging Plants for: FAST GROWTH

Whether it is impatience or necessity, many gardeners want or need a hedge sooner rather than later…

Leylandii (Cupressocyparis Leylandii) is, of course, the fastest growing of them all – so fast in fact that it should only be planted in a location where such rapid growth will not prove problematic to neighbours. Of course, its height can be kept in check with proper trimming once or twice a year
Escallonia macrantha rubra ‘Crimson Spire’ and Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) are two contrasting plants but both are renowned for their vigorous growth.

Photinia Red Robin (Photinia x fraseri ‘Red Robin’), Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) and Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus ‘Rotundifolia’) are all classified as medium-fast growers and so will satisfy all but the most impatient.

Griselinia Littoralis AGM, Lonicera (Lonicera nitida), and Purple Copper Beech (Fagus sylvatica ‘Purpurea’) sit in the middle and are medium growers.
