Its deep green leaves which split in to 3 to 5 and it is native to central and eastern Europe. They are an adaptable being able to survive in both full sun and partial shade and are hardy throughout most of the most severe UK and European temperatures with a RHS hardiness rating of H6 meaning they can survive all UK temperatures and most European ones down to between -15C and -20C. When positioning, it prefers moist soils but can tolerate drier ones and plant in a sheltered or exposed position. This is often done best in the middle or front of a flower bed.
