They are an adaptable being able to survive in both full sun and partial shade and are hardy throughout most of the most severe UK and European temperatures with a RHS hardiness rating of H7 meaning they can survive extreme European and UK temperatures down to below -20C. When positioning, it prefers moist soils but can tolerate drier ones and plant in a sheltered position. This is often done best in the middle or front of a flower bed.
