Berberis Thunbergii-Japanese Barberry
Barberries have bright yellow spring flowers in late spring and a wonderful red autumn foliage. They are capable of forming a low, deciduous, border hedge, growing well in full sun and can tolerate partial shade well and their spikes capable of deterring intruders. Their berries are wonderful when ripe for the local wildlife, attracting its presence to your garden. Barberries should be grown in well drained soul and are an incredibly hardy plant, capable of growing in both acidic and alkaline soils, withstanding frosts down to -20°C.
