Thoroughly Mediterranean, it is drought-tolerant and copes well with coastal conditions, making it ideal for sunny borders, gravel gardens and rockeries.
Give it a warm, sheltered spot in full sun and free-draining soil; it resents winter wet and heavy pruning.
