About Dog Rose

Dog Rose (Rosa canina) is the wild rose of British hedgerows — an arching, thorny scrambler that threads itself through a mixed hedge and gives it real character.

In early summer it produces simple, sweetly scented flowers in the palest pink to white, followed by glossy scarlet hips that persist well into winter and are a vital food source for birds.

The thorny growth quickly makes a hedge stock-proof and intruder-resistant. It is tough and undemanding, growing in sun or partial shade on virtually any soil.

Usually supplied as part of our native hedging mix — call us and we will advise on the right proportion for your hedge.
