A dense, glossy evergreen ball that holds its shape with almost no work — and, unlike box, it does not get blight or caterpillar.

Euonymus japonicus ‘Green Spire’ clips into a beautifully dense ball of lush evergreen foliage. The leaves are a rich, glossy green and the plant is naturally compact, so it holds a tight shape with very little help — structure, texture and year-round interest from one easy plant.
It is genuinely low maintenance and rarely needs trimming. Use it on a patio, in a border, flanking a front door, or as a focal point. Mixed in among perennials and grasses it does something rather clever: it brings a formal note to an informal planting, so the two read together rather than fighting each other.
It takes full sun through to partial shade and is tough — hardy down to around −20°C.
Best of all, and the reason many people are now choosing it: it does not get box blight, and box tree caterpillar leaves it alone. If you have lost box in the past, this is the plant to replace it with.
