Description
Lavender Imperial Gem
Lavender Imperial Gem (another successful and popular cultivar of Lavandula Angustifolia from the late 1980s) is visually similar to the Hidcote variety with the additional advantages of being slightly hardier, more vigorous and taller – it therefore makes an excellent substitute. Imperial Gem is a low growing plant with grey/green foliage and beautiful dark violet flowers spraying outwards. Just as Lavender Grosso closes the season with flowering in late summer and early autumn, so Imperial Gem heralds it when it starts sending up its fabulous display in late May.
Its tidy, compact form makes it the perfect choice for both cottage and formal gardens.
