Luzula nivea (snow rush) is an evergreen, clump-forming perennial with dark green grassy leaves and tufts of pure white summer flowers.

Though it looks like a grass, snow rush is a woodrush — a slowly spreading, clump-forming evergreen with narrow, rich dark-green leaves around 30cm long.
In summer it carries airy tufts of pure white flowers on tall stems, showing up beautifully against the dark foliage. It combines well with campanula, geraniums and astrantia.
Exceptionally accommodating: it grows in anything from full sun to deep shade, prefers moist soil, copes with exposed positions and is generally free of pests and disease — one of the best evergreen ground covers for shade.
Maintenance is minimal: simply comb out the dead leaves in spring, leaving them over winter as protection.
