A striking penstemon with strong, upright stems carrying a long succession of large, tubular flowers in rich purple with paler, veined throats. It brings height and drama to a border.
Flowering from summer into autumn, it is loved by bees and makes a fine backdrop to shorter plants. Deadhead to keep it going.
Grow in full sun in free-draining soil. Leave the top-growth on over winter for protection and cut back in spring.
