Penstemon ‘Garnet’ is a reliable, long-flowering border perennial, carrying spires of deep wine-red bells from midsummer well into autumn.
Free click & collect from the nursery, or delivery on larger orders.
Penstemon ‘Garnet’ (also sold as ‘Andenken an Friedrich Hahn’) is among the hardiest and most free-flowering penstemons — a semi-evergreen perennial with narrow green leaves and an upright, bushy habit.
From June it produces a long succession of slender, tubular flowers in a rich garnet-red, held above the foliage and much loved by bees. Deadheading keeps it going through to the first frosts.
Grow it in full sun in any reasonably free-draining soil. Leave the top-growth on over winter for protection and cut back in spring. Excellent in mixed and cottage-style borders.
Every plant we sell is backed by four decades of growing. Tell us about your garden and we’ll tell you honestly whether this is the right plant for it.
