Description
Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Pompom’ is a new cultivar (hybrid). It grows well in full sun to partial shade, thriving on well draining soil like most pittosporums. It naturally forms a bun like structure. It has glossy, ovular light green leaves with honey scented purple flowers in the early summer. It is very similar to the Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Golf Ball’ which can spread to about 1.2m in good conditions.
It makes a good alternative to box as it avoids the blight and is less susceptible to caterpillar.
If clipped tidily it can look very good with Phormiums creating a modern and formal contrast adding a touch of the kiwi environment to your garden.
