A distinctive perennial forming upright fans of narrow, grey-green, iris-like leaves. In June and July it sends up slender spikes studded with clusters of soft, pale yellow flowers.
Its vertical form suits gravel gardens, sunny borders and courtyard planting, and it is a good plant for bees. It self-seeds gently where happy.
Grow in full sun in free-draining soil.
