Salvia nemorosa ‘Schneehügel’ (Salvia sylvestris ‘Schneehügel’) is a versatile, herbaceous, mound forming perennial with green, rugged, scented foliage. Salvia nemosa can be found naturally from Europe to as far afield as Siberia and Afganistan. It has a RHS hardiness rating of H7, meaning it can survive temperatures below -20C, it can also survive in very exposed positions. The name come from Schnee meaning snow in German because it produces pure, short white flower spikes in early summer from June until August.

Salvia nemorosa ‘Schneehügel’ (Salvia sylvestris ‘Schneehügel’) does well in full sun but can tolerate partial to light shade.

Salvia nemorosa ‘Schneehügel’ (Salvia sylvestris ‘Schneehügel’) is truly fantastic plant, perfect for many situations including: Mediterranean; city and courtyard; costal; cottage & informal; patio & containers; flower borders, wall side borders; costal; rose underplanting; and beds and formal gardens. It can pair well with formal edging (low dividing hedges) or grasses such as Stipa tenuisima. They also contrast nicely with other forms of Salvias, such as with the deep violet Salvia nemosa ‘Blauhugel’ (Salvia Blue Hills) and the deep violet-purple Salvia nemosa ‘Caradonna’ (Salvia sylvestris ‘Caradonna’).

As flowers turn and begin to fade cut them off, this will prolong the flowering period.
